Organized Chaos
Artist: Michael-Alexander Stoll
80 × 100 cm – acrylic on canvas – original artwork

“Organized Chaos” belongs to the early works of Michael-Alexander Stoll. The painting has accompanied the artist for several years, was initially held in a private collection and not for sale, and has repeatedly triggered strong reactions over time: in the gallery, very wealthy visitors stood in front of it for a long time and described it as one of the strongest pieces of this creative phase. Remarkably, fellow artists even drew subtle comparisons to one of the world’s most renowned abstract painters – without the work ever losing its own, unmistakable signature. The title captures the central tension of the piece: chaos and order, friction and harmony, opposites meeting on a vibrantly charged surface.

Technical description:
The work is built up in many layers using a squeegee technique. Horizontal and vertical movements run across the canvas like a fractured grid, with dense color fields in between where the paint is applied partly in pastose thickness, partly in very thin, veil-like layers. Matte, earthy base tones are repeatedly broken up by clear, luminous primary colors – with clean color transitions that remain precisely controlled despite the squeegee process. In the close-ups, color ridges, edges and fine glazes merge into a complex surface. The painting is created on a classic, flat stretcher frame whose edges are fully painted, giving the piece a calm, timeless presence.

Sealed with Swiss museum-quality varnish — hand-sprayed in two layers.

Color psychology & spatial impact:
The foundation of broken browns, greys and olive tones gives “Organized Chaos” a grounded, almost urban atmosphere – reminiscent of a cityscape in the rain or reflections on wet facades. Between these zones, clear blues, reds, yellows and greens light up with strong chromatic energy. They appear like windows of light or energy axes that structure what initially seems chaotic. In several areas, swirling shapes and circular movements emerge, sometimes only hinted at, sometimes half veiled by subsequent layers of paint. These subtle energy whirls can be read as positive force fields and resonant spaces: zones of concentrated energy where tensions gather, reorganise and are directed into a constructive flow. The overall effect is lively, musical and at the same time surprisingly balanced.

Recommended placement:
“Organized Chaos” is ideally suited to representative corporate environments: reception and waiting areas, meeting rooms, law firms, consultancies, agencies or modern executive offices where a deliberate statement of contemporary painting is desired. In private interiors, the work performs particularly well above sofa arrangements, in dining areas, in open loft spaces or along generous corridors. The 80 × 100 cm format remains flexible enough to stand its ground in larger rooms while still fitting comfortably on more limited wall surfaces.

Price structure and collector value:
As an early work in which Michael-Alexander Stoll’s later visual language is already clearly emerging, “Organized Chaos” holds particular appeal for collectors. The intricate, multi-layered squeegee technique, the dense color composition and the strong contrast between matte base zones and clear, luminous color fields lift the painting well above purely decorative wall art. At the same time, the format sits in a sweet spot for many interiors – present, but still easy to integrate into existing spaces. For buyers wishing to secure an important piece from the artist’s early period, this work offers a compelling combination of painterly depth and long-term collector potential.
